An invisible force bound them together

You know what I think? I think it’s like this:

red string

姻缘红线 – the Red Thread of Fate.

In Chinese folklore, the gods supposedly tie an invisible red cord around the ankles of those that are destined to meet. The deity in charge of “the red thread” to be Yue Lao (月老), the old lunar matchmaker god, who is in charge of marriages.

The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. (source)

I’ve even read that some couples have tattooed their pinky fingers with the red string of fate to show that they are always connected to each other.
