- To be honest, the dialogue is quite funny but I like that Shen Qingqiu makes the point that it’s actually very unfunny given the state that the sect is in.
- Please let me know if there are any errors.
You don’t really need to read this stuff but if you’re interested, here are some notes about the translation:
- The dialogue throughout this chapter is actually full of innuendo that’s super hard to translate but I did my best to make it sound full of double meanings in English. 🙂
- “…he didn’t want to publicly knee Luo Binghe in the groin.” – Because it would ruin his “cold and elegant” image.
- “This disciple is truly wild with joy.” – Pfft, Luo Binghe seems to be pretending this is sarcastic but I’m pretty sure he truly is ecstatic that his Shizun is alive.
- “…you intend to sacrifice yourself by surrendering your body to him.” – Everyone seems to think that Peak Lord Shen is going to have to let the Demon Lord burst his chrysanthemum. Shen Qingqiu complains about Liu Qingge’s word choice because this phrase “surrendering your body” is 委身 wěi shēn which means “give oneself wholly to” or “give one’s body to; marry.” I think it’s just a thinly veiled phrase for “doing it.” Some people seem to think that Shen Qingqiu is sacrificing his chastity for the sect.
- “A burst of black qi…” – I think is 100% literal. I imagine black energy rising up. This should be the sign of a backlash if you are a righteous cultivator, right? But for demons, black qi should be normal.
- “Remove the encirclement” – Encirclement is a military term for the situation when a force or target is isolated and surrounded by enemy forces.

- 乌龙 – “own goal” i.e. a player accidentally hitting the ball into his own team’s goal but in context means either an accident or a mistake.
- 吃软不吃硬 (chī ruǎn bù chī yìng) literally “eats soft food, but refuses hard food”
- A literal translation of this would be “Shen Qingqiu was truly the type of person who eats soft food but refuses hard food but you can’t slap him the face after eating and say: pretend.” I changed it quite a bit to try to make it more understandable.
- 气沉丹田 – literally “qi sinks into dantian.”
- 无力 (wú lì) powerless or lacking strength
- 擦屁股 (cā pì gu) “wipe his (Shen Qingqiu’s) bottom
- 师妹 (shī mèi) junior female student or apprentice; daughter (younger than oneself) of one’s teacher
- Both times he uses 魔头 mó tóu – monster; devil
- 跟 gēn – means to follow behind, go with, or marry someone. It’s hard to translate but I think Shen Qingqiu deliberately used a more submissive phrase than normal to try to coax Luo Binghe to back off and leave.
- 师叔 shī shū – this is what disciples call their master’s fellow disciples
- 坐化 zuò huà – literally a “to die in a seated posture.” This is a phrase used to say that a Buddhist monk has died.
- 香饽饽xiāng bō bo – literally “delicious cakes” meaning a popular person or something that is in high demand
- Encirclement is a military term for the situation when a force or target is isolated and surrounded by enemy forces
- 虎口 hǔ kǒu – the place between the thumb and forefinger. Metaphorically – the tiger’s den; a dangerous place
Unhappy Reunion indeed. SQQ is on the path towards Stockholm syndrome.. Just because LB hasn’t killed any of Cang Qiong Mountain sect’s disciples and the real villain hasn’t been (officially) identified yet, doesn’t make him less villainous
I thought this chapter did a good job of hitting that “would be a farce” kind of scene, only it isn’t funny for the characters at all since it is such a serious situation!

I was VERY confused by what “lift the encirclement” meant until I got to the end notes. I would’ve understood “siege” immediately, though. Perhaps you could put it as one of the linked endnotes?

100% agree. Luo binghe’s personality is really starting to drive me up the wall. That demonic blood thing is also annoying the crap out of me. AND THE SYSTEM IS ANNOYING ME EVEN MORE. luo binghe has some serious problems, I don’t have a kink for unhealthy, abusive, obsessive relationships, so I’m getting really uncomfortable. If LBH actually rapes SQQ im going to flip.
In regards to black Qi rising to the face… In Chinese medicine black is related to kidneys and fear. Could be fear rising to his face. Not sure if it is in this case, but thought it might help.

Hm… it’s firet time when some character in this author work couse in me hint of aversion, LBH is stubborn t the point that it easy to think that he is narrow minded fool. Yes he finally cought SQQ but so what ?I think that it’s too early to judge, i trust that author have something more to say about his personality, especially when i’ve already reading GDC and HOB, i think we need to wait. LBH is the hardest character to like because well, he’s horrible, has poor respect for boundaries and I get that he’s heart broken but to go so far as to tangle with a corpse. He’s not owed SQQ’s love or acceptance. So far he’s just a creep. I am really hoping he gets redeemed because I normally love the Author’s characters who actually tend to not be overbearing and whom you can’t help but really immerse yourself in but ugh, tired of LBH.
They explain later in an extra chapter why he kept his body next to him

The author normally has characters I love especially in The Founder of Diabolism where I damn near felt the whole journey, but my goodness, I don’t like LBH at all. He’s creepy and rapey. Two combinations I am particularly tired of in BL.
I think it has to do with the fact that he rushed his cultivation too, I don’t think his heart is stable.. they do mention that he doesn’t have control over the heart demon sword because of this, not sure if that is amplifying his yandereness…

Hello Reika, I was reading the raws for this chap and it seems like a few dialogues are missing in this translated chap. After the ‘…Happy?’ Sentence/para above, the raws had a few more Luo Binghe dialogues. Something along the lines of how there’s been several times where LBH wanted to follow his dreams to find out where Shizun was and that in the beginning, Master shouldnt run away, yell at LBH, then many things will be completely different? Correct me if the raws i was reading were wrong.
There’s nothing missing. You’re probably reading the old version. We use the newest version. The author has already removed those lines where Luo Binghe blames Shen Qingqiu for running away. IMO, the new version is much better since the old one made LBH sound much nastier.

I kinda wish that Yingying had taken advantage of being the only person there LBH might have enough residual fondness for to allow it (it says something, I think, that she was able to grab SQQ) and plowed her way in with them to try to help guard her Shizun’s chastity; one of my favorite little background details in the story is how not falling for LBH has made her grow up into a much better person (my favorite non-relationship bit in the sidestories is when Bing-Ge runs into her and she chastises him for being too familiar).

I have a question on SQQ’s appearance right now. Does he not have the same face as his previous body?
I think they mentioned in an earlier chapter that it was about 40% the same, so similar enough to confuse people for sure
When he first came back he said that they tried basing his current body on his original Shen Yuan body, but it still came out pretty strongly resembling his Shen Qingqiu form too since it was shaped around his energy, or something like that
If I remember correctly, right now he has the face of both Shen Qingqiu AND Shen Yuan (his original self). Think of it like a mashup between two people, which is why its said “Why is this person SQQ but also not SQQ” last chapter
