Okay, so the dark mode add-on to the website does seem to be lagging it, but I think it looks good. I will probably remove it in the future since the impact on the loading speed is too much. To the person who asked for dark mode, sorry! I tried!

In other news, updates have been daily so far, and we aim to keep it that way. *crosses fingers* Depending on how it goes, weekends might be non-update days, but perhaps some weekdays will be double chapter days to make up for it.

Is the website lagging?

Hi guys, as I mentioned yesterday, I added a dark mode toggle to the website. You should be able to see it on the lower right corner.

The problem is that when I add something to the website, sometimes it doesn’t play nice and causes issues. I think the new dark mode add-on is making the site load slower than before. I might remove it after a bit more testing. Or I might not.

Google PageSpeed Insight metrics definitely doesn’t like it, alas.

Based on the findings, it delays the loading time by 1.5 seconds, which is a lot since websites should ideally load within 2 seconds

Please let me know if you’re having any issues with it.

Dark Mode is here! No, it’s not, I had to remove it

Edit: I removed it because the add-on made the website load really slowly.

I got a comment asking for a dark mode function for the website. Okay! I just added it.

There should be a floating toggle you can use to switch to dark mode. It’s in the lower right corner of the website. If it doesn’t appear, try going to the BC Novels home page and click on it there.

Table of Contents and Chapter Links

I have now added a table of contents and links to the previous and next chapters at the start and end of every chapter.

This was done manually. Based on my research, there should be plugins or add-ons that work, but I’ve always done it this way. Please let me know if any of the links are wrong.

A bit of trivia: in Chinese culture, ten thousand can mean either literally ten thousand or a large, indefinite number because it’s the largest number in common use. For example, a million is a “hundred ten-thousands.”

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League

I cannot believe this movie exists! This is crazy! Batman Ninja? Yes!

Summary:

After returning from feudal Japan, the Batman family learns that not all is as it seems. As the country of Japan has mysteriously disappeared from its original location, and to make things even stranger, a giant island is currently floating over Gotham City. The city is then invaded by an army of yakuza led by its own version of the Justice League. It’s up to the Batman family to save the city from this invasion.

Even though I saw it with my own eyes, I still can’t get over how weird this film is. Have you watched it? What did you think of it? I’m kinda on the fence here. The concept is wild and funny, but I guess I just wasn’t fully into it.

I have migrated the website to a different host

There shouldn’t be any difference except for perhaps a slight increase in the loading speed. This is not much of an issue for BC Novels since our pages are almost all text-based, which are naturally fast-loading.

I opted for a more affordable hosting plan because I couldn’t afford the previous one, and we no longer need extensive hosting now that our one major project has been licensed.

Also, please let me know if you like Shizun, My Script is Wrong. I’m a little worried because there have been zero comments. Do people not like it so far?

I am the Fated Villain

I can’t recommend this manhua (Chinese web comic) at all because, true to the title, the main character is a straight-up villain. He is not one of those “misunderstood as a villain.” This means he does a ton of really iffy stuff.

However, if you’re okay with a truly evil MC who does bad stuff, then you could give this one a try. I read the manhua, but I didn’t read the novel, if there is one.

Pros:

• interesting characters
• funny
• fast-paced
• logical MC who doesn’t do stuff without a reason

Cons:

• TW stuff

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (2024)

Recently, I watched Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, a Chinese drama show, after I read the manhua/Chinese webcomic “The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus” (黑莲花攻略手册) by Bai Yu Zhai Diao Gong (白羽摘雕弓).

It’s about a woman who transmigrated into the world of a very dangerous demon-hunting novel. She becomes the second female lead who makes trouble for the main couple. The “black lotus” of the title is the female lead’s foster brother. The manhua was amazing!

As for the drama, it was kinda mid? The first episode was very fun, but I got bored later on, and the ending was meh. The cast was great, so I can still recommend it if you like that sort of thing.
