Looking back on this project, I remember when the first English fan translation was released by CNovelLuv (aka Worshipper A) in May 2017. That was how I discovered MXTX, and I quickly became obsessed with Scum Villain! In February 2018, the original translator was ill and I helped them out with a few chapters on their website before I took over the project. The first chapter of Scum Villain on BC Novels was released on September 20, 2018.

A major milestone was when BC Novels completed the original, core story with the release of chapter 81!

Since the day BC Novels took over the Scum Villain project on 09/20/18, 48 chapters were published in 259 days. That is a rate of about 1 chapter every 5 days. We took more time to finish all the extras, though. We released around one chapter per month on average.

I’m happy that this story is complete! Thank you very much to everyone who has helped and all the readers and fans who read this story.

    Hi, thank you for relaying the great news re official English release! And thank you so, so much for providing such great, high-quality translations.

    I got into SVSSS via the officially licensed Korean version only very recently, and to my regret, I didn’t get to finish reading BC Novels English version. I understand you had to remove the translations because of licensing issue, but is it possible to beg you for just the translators’ notes? I’ve always found them a treasure trove of cultural knowledge and would love to see them.

    I understand completely if it cannot be done. I just thought I’d ask. 🙂 Thank you very much for your time!

      🙂 Oh, the notes? But without the context, they wouldn’t mean anything, sadly. It could be done if the translators did some work to make the notes independent, but most translators are either busy or no longer active in the fan translation community. The official translation will have notes though! I read that from twitter.

      I was interested in the more linguistic notes, where translators explained why they chose certain English expressions for certain Chinese phrases, etc. SVSSS Korean version has a fair number of footnotes and granted, they’re much better than Mo Dao Zu Shi official translation, but they don’t get into that kind of detail. I love that fan translations include so much more details. I really wish I had a chance to save BC Novels version footnotes, but sadly, I came too late into the SVSSS fandom. 🙂

    never commented here( tho I regret it now), but I have read your translation around 5 times and how I laughed and cried at this wonderful book. I loved your T/N notes. I feel very sad I can never read your version svsss ever again, but this is very bittersweet. Thank you for introducing me to this novel.

I’ve never been a novel reader (I mostly just read manga) but this was my first ever BL novel and it really turned my into a QT BL novel with yandere ML addict!     This is my first time reading chinese online novel with this kind of genre. Tbh, thanks with all the side notes bcs im not rlly familiar w some terms.I started reading this novel 3 days ago.
    What a journey, i was laughing, crying, screaming and blushing a lot.
    I didnt expect this story was rlly this addicting, i feel content when reading this.
    Tho, i feel bad that SQQ always in pain when they papapa and i rlly love the side story of Mobei & SQH. its rlly cute!

    I started reading this when up through chapter 98 was done after finding out that my ‘read offline’ version was actually cutting off mid-paragraph. So I found the original translator’s site, then eventually found my way here. I love how dedicated you all are and I want to thank you for completing this work after three years of translating it.

    Like the other two novels done by MXTX, this is a very wonderful story, though I find myself at a loss about how to explain just why I keep bursting into spontaneous laughter while reading it to my roommate. I’ll be poking my head into your other translations and hopefully they amuse me just as much. Thank you very, very much. <3
