BC Novels’ new website theme is now live!

I’ve changed the look of BCNovels.com. This website is using the WordPress content management system (CMS) which allows me to make a website without messing with coding.

TL;DR – Everything is fine and you shouldn’t see any major change to the website design at all.

Long story:

This year WordPress had released some pretty major updates. Most notably, a brand new “Gutenberg editor” which is, frankly, not my favorite at all. But I’ve gotten used to it.

With these new changes, the old Dara Theme I have been using now lacks certain functionalities and customizing options that I want.

This is the old Dara WordPress Theme I was using.

I’ve chosen the Astra Theme for the new website redesign.

What has remained the same:

  • The overall look, color, and layout.
  • The font style, colors, and sizes.
  • Navigation menu on top.
  • Widgets on the sidebar.
  • The stuff at the bottom of the website.

What has now changed and why:

  • The main content is now more narrow in desktop mode (no change in mobile). I made this change for readability since wider text is harder to read. For example, newspaper text is printed in narrow columns. Ideally, text should be 45 – 75 characters per line. Right now text on BC Novels is 75 characters per line, including spaces.
  • Since the main content area is narrower, the sidebar is now wider. The change is only around 5% of the total width which shouldn’t be noticeable.

Possible future changes: I might make a logo for BC Novels. I think text is probably good enough.

Problem: Uh, the night mode button doesn’t seem to be working right now. I’m trying to fix it.

I hope everyone likes the new look. Thanks for reading.

P.S. I did test on desktop, tablet, and mobile and everything seems fine but do let me know if I’ve broken anything.

Announcement: Patreon Launched!

Patreon now launched – https://www.patreon.com/bcnovels

Hiya everyone. A while ago I mentioned that I am somewhat cash-poor. *cough* Yeah, I need money. I won’t bore you with the details.

A lot of people responded by donating to http://ko-fi.com/bcnovels. Thank you very much!

I believe that at this point a Patreon would make sense so that I can offer something in return for their donations. If you would like to just make a pure donation, no strings attached, then please donate at https://ko-fi.com/bcnovels. I have always given early access to people who donate there and will continue to do so.

Patreon Page

My patreon is now live at https://www.patreon.com/bcnovels.

I currently have 3 chapters of Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me available so please become my patron! You can preview the chapters here – https://www.patreon.com/bcnovels/posts?tag=every%20day%20the%20protagonist

Actually, this is my first time to use Patreon and I hope my patrons will be patient with me as I try to do whatever it is I have to do there…LOL.

I will be uploading all of the rewards today and tomorrow since I do have some first drafts that I am working on.

A manga I scanlated (as Flower Clocks) – “The hero suddenly proposed to me, but . . .”

By the way, I will only give early access to first drafts. The actual final draft is the one I upload on my website.

Thank you very much to all my readers.

What I am reading right now

I said I was going to blog but I didn’t post anything until today. 🙂 Since I know the readers of BC Novels are interested in the BL genre, here are some of my recommendations.

Ongoing Web Novels

Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil – absolutely a must-read. This story is real gem and very epic. 167 chapters have already been released so there’s plenty to binge-read. The MC traveled from one world to another, bound to a System that forced him to play cannon fodder villains. He died hundreds of times that way but don’t worry, that is just background info. The story begins when he broke free of the System and started to wreak havoc on all the worlds to get his revenge on the creator of the System. I love the MC and ML’s relationship.

The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System – I wish this had more chapters! It’s about a man who got transmigrated into the world of a Xianxia novel. He’s adorable, lol! The translation is ongoing but I have read the entire novel so I can recommend it. Great ending.

I’ve Led the Villain Astray, How Do I Fix It? – funny premise. The MC was transmigrated into the world of a Xianxia novel. He is a bro-con spoils his little brother who he wants to grow up into a strong and good person.

Counterattack of a White Lotus that was Reborn into an Apocalypse – the MC is a macho muscle-bound gym/fitness instructor who died when a really heavy book fell on his head. To his horror, he transmigrated into the world of that “killer book” and his role is that of the fake “white lotus” character. From a manly man, he turned into a tender, weak, and cute little white boy. This MC is absolutely hilarious. Reading this novel always makes me smile.

Transmigrating into a Mob Character to Rehabilitate the Villain Plan – hmm, I kinda rec this but with caution. I loved the first two volumes when the ML was a little boy but when he grew up in volumes 3-4 it kinda became too tragic in some parts though it does eventually have a happy ending. I dunno, there’s a lot of drama for me since I prefer the fluffy stories but I did enjoy volume 1 a lot.

Who Dares Slander My Senior Brother – seems like a really lovely story but, alas, there are not many chapters out yet.

Announcement: I have commenced blogging!

Yes, note that I have made a new category for BC Novels which is “Blogging.” I think I have been rambling on a bit too much about other things during my daily posts. Well, no more! From now on when I want to write about other stuff (that isn’t about my three projects) I will use the “Blogging” category.

I’ll be writing about all sorts of stuff

The current categories are:

  • Reader and Protagonist – everything about the project “The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love”
  • Everyday the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me – everything about the project “Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me”
  • Manga – my manga projects are posted here
  • BC Novels – all announcements about this website and my projects
  • Blogging – everything else like reviews, what I did today, links to interesting stuff, fanfiction, anime, food, movies, books, comics, fashion, etc. Basically, whatever I want to write about.

Relax, it’s all cool

The reason I am doing this is to de-stress myself. You may or may not have noticed that I have been a tiny bit grumpy recently. The daily tasks of juggling three projects has been taking its toll on me.

Don’t worry, there will be no hiatus of any of my projects. Everything is fine, I just want to ramble on a bit about this and that.

You don’t have to read the blogging posts if you are not interested in the particular topic I am writing about.
