I think I’ve already mentioned that “Mei Yin Valley” means “charming sound valley.”

“Charming” in this case means using a charm or casting an enchantment. So one can assume that their skills include bewitching and/or tempting people.

That’s a classic skill for Demonic Path cultivators. Generally speaking, Righteous Path cultivators would consider such skills to be unorthodox and would not generally use that type of technique.

Kubera Webtoon

I’ve recommended this webtoon before when it was on hiatus. Now I’m recommending it again now that Season 3 is in full swing.

Set in a world full of magic, Kubera is an epic tale of mortals, gods, and beings that are more powerful than gods.

The story is quite multilayered. I recommend this for fans of epic, high fantasy. I don’t think it’s the best thing ever written but it’s free and the story is very interesting.

The characters are a mixed bag of delightfully fun, tragically flawed, darkly ruthless, extremely mercenary, etc. since there are tons of different types of people who play important roles in the story.

Just a bit of trivia: the names of the gods seem to be inspired by Indian mythology, including the name of the titular character. Kubera is the god of wealth and king of the semi-divine Yakshas in Hindu mythology.

The webtoon’s not perfect and I wish it was faster-paced but I would give it a solid 8 out of 10 rating.

Summary:

A young girl from a small town, Kubera starts her journey when she finds everything she loves has been killed by suras – powerful beings from another world.

‘How I Found It in July’ aka ‘July Found by Chance’

I’ve fallen in love with this webcomic! Sadly, there are not many chapters released yet but I really love the main character and story.

Summary:

What would you do if you found out that you were, in fact, a character in a comic? And an extra character on top of that? Change the course of the story, obviously!

It’s a simple story so far but I enjoy the way it’s unfolding. The art is great, too. The soft colors and clean lines are very romantic, giving it a misty, otherworldly atmosphere. 😀

I only hope that it will have a happy ending for all of the characters that I already love. I don’t mind if the characters I don’t like have a tragic ending…

Looks like people liked the last post about books. Here’s another thing you can read and it’s even for free!

“A Study in Emerald” (pdf), a short story by Neil Gaiman. It’s an homage to H.P. Lovecraft and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle so it helps if you’ve read Sherlock Holmes and the Cthulu stuff.

This story won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 2004 and the 2005 Locus Award for Best Novelette.

Don’t worry, this is freely and legally distributed by the author himself at NeilGaiman.com’s free short stories section. It’s from the book “Shadows Over Baker Street.”

For those who aren’t aware, Never Marry a Man With Two Tintins is one of my projects.

Summary:

Cheng Nuo transmigrated into a fantasy world. Not only did he turn into a child, he also became female! What?!

Despite the fact that his body remained the same, except for being younger, in the world where he transmigrated, Cheng Nuo is considered a female because… he only had one “little brother.” You see, the males in his new world all have two “little brothers.”
