Chapter 45 – Demon Culture

You might have noticed that each chapter contains the line “this chapter is by ____.” This is needed because there are a lot of people who translated different chapters of the web novel. It’s not just one person. To be honest, this has resulted in a bit of inconsistency when it comes to the translation, but it couldn’t be helped because it’s much easier to finish a project if you have more than one person working on it.

The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System’s early chapters were by Cnovel. When they dropped the project, I got their permission to help out, and eventually take over. Since I knew that this was going to be a long and difficult road, I asked around for people who wanted to help out. A lot of people did! Thank you very much to all the fan translators and editors!

    I went back and read last chapter.
    And I can’t find any connection with what happened in the beginning of this chapter with what happened at the end of the last chapter.
    MC just picked up a fan and walking while thinking of his name. And then all of a sudden next chapter he keeps talking about little demons trying to steal from him?! Like what?!
    And now all of a sudden he’s in the demon realm? Like, wasn’t he just at the border of the demon realm ? Why is he suddenly inside of the demon real?

    This chapters fucking confusing.

      Oh? Really? But then Shenqiu started talking about demon world and demon culture and then he asked the demons. “Where’s the portal to the human realm”.
      And the. Out of nowhere the crazy demon girl shows up and pops out of the portal.
      So if the portal is to the human realm. And the girl came OUT WITH someone bound. That could only mean she was taking him home with her to the demon realm. Which they entered?

SQQ asked: “What exactly are your intentions for sneaking into the human world?” because they are in the human world, right? Also, the girl didn’t come out with someone bound. The first person to exit the portal was a boy who had escaped… escaped the demon world, that is.

    Shen Qingqiu is honestly my favorite protagonist if not of all time then of this author’s works. His inner monologue is always hilarious. I can’t believe we’re 45 chapters in and he STILL doesn’t realize that Luo Binghe’s in love with him and that there will be no harem unless Binghe can somehow figure out a way to mass produce shizuns.

    No wonder Qing Jing Peak’s disciples would describe their Shizun as distracted like he’s lost his soul, even after five years of becoming a tree, Shen Qingqiu would still think of luo Binghe at every possible occasions 😂

    Luo Qingge has been a truly good brother to Shen Qingqiu, it pained me to see his sufferings. I don’t understand why Luo Binghe would fight against Cang Qiong Mountain even when they’ve cleared up the misunderstandings.. I might be missing something important while reading this ;w;

      Qingge keeps fighting Binghe because in the last chapter they revealed that Binghe refused to give back Shizuns corpse and has kept it all these years but Cang Qiong Mountain want it back for obvious reasons lol

    wow… i feel bad for little six balls, life as a low ranking demon is tough…though if they want to eat rotten meat, I’m not sure a fringe village will be wiling to let their food stores spoil to trade for gems, not unless they found a way to establish proper trade with a peak or city. Provided the ‘rotten meat’ could be something besides human meat. Also, while six balls may have gotten an unfortunate name, didn’t LBH get his name because he was found floating down a river? All things considered, he got a pretty typical low class demon name, right?

    SQQ, you shouldn’t have let Sha Hualing get away. Once LBH hears about your resurrection, he’s either going to torture you for ‘daring to impersonate his shizun’ or introduce you to his peerless cucumber (his golden spear, his heavenly pillar, his 3000 night harem pleaser)

    I know its asking for spoilers (which is just bad form)….. buuuuuut… Does SQQ ever tell LB he’s not his original Shizun or that he transmigrated from a world where he’s just a story book character?
    I mean I’m sure LB won’t care all the much about SQQ identity, but the book thing might clear up a few things for him.
    I know this is an earlier work for this author than MDZS and Heaven’s Blessing, but I’m hoping that she filled in little details like that.

      I haven’t read to the end of the novel but from what spoilers I read, that doesn’t seem to be the case, which I’m glad for ’cause it feels kinda unnecesary to me as there are others, more natural ways for the misunderstandings to be cleared; and like the above commenter said, breaking the fourth wall can throw the whole story into disarray unless it’s really well executed or the story makes it seem like there’s no other way around it, like in ‘the reader and protagonist’ and ‘I threw the villain astray’

      That kid is the one that SQQ told LQG he should take on as his disciple. In my headcanon, LQG took him as his personal succeeding disciple because his Shen Shixiong told him to.
