It’s back!

Sorry, I paused the translation for this when I picked up The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System. I currently have three active projects so it’s too difficult to translate When a Fanfic Protagonist Transmigrated into the Original Novel, too.

The good news is that I’ve found someone who wants to help with this project. Hooray! Thanks to Windyday who translated this chapter. She’s working on the next chapter, too.

If anyone else wants to join the team, you can email me at [email protected]

Regular Updates Will Resume

I’m sorry for the delay. Real life is less busy now and I hope to publish chapters weekly.

I’m very fortunate to have found someone who has volunteered to help me with this project. Yay! Lianyin will be translating some chapters for us.

Eight Million Gods by Wen Spencer

One of the more relatable and entertaining books I have read is “Eight Million Gods” by Wen Spencer.

8 million gods
Eight Million Gods

My Summary:

Nikki, an American currently living in Japan, was writing a book. One ordinary day when she was having lunch with her best friend to talk about how a character had died, she was arrested by the policeman sitting on the next table.

Why?

Because the details of the murder in her book-in-progress matched the details of a real-life murder.

What follows next is a supernatural mystery involving kami (Japanese gods/spirits) and youkai (preternatural creatures from Japanese folklore).

I like it a lot and I feel that the male lead is yummy. 😉 The main character is also very likable most of the time.

It’s not the best thing ever written so don’t expect a genius-level story but I think it’s a fun book.

Manga Based on Yandere Otome Game

Were you looking for an otome where all the capture targets are yandere? You know, one that’s like the game described in “It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World of a Yandere Otome Game”?

If so, then I’ve got you covered fam!

In case you were wondering, yes, this glasses-wearing, rabbit-eared guy is 100% yandere. *smirks*

An otome game full of (mostly) male yandere capture targets: “Alice in the Country of Hearts” aka “Heart no Kuni no Alice.” Yen Press is still selling physical copies.

Summary: Kidnapped by a handsome man with rabbit ears, Alice Liddell finds herself suddenly abandoned in an odd place called Wonderland. Alice sets off to explore this strange land but little does she know that she’s wandered right into the middle of a dangerous power struggle involving just about all of Wonderland’s attractive, weapon-happy denizens.

Note: The characters fight each other a lot but not “civilians” aka Alice and other bystanders.

You can read a fan translation here – https://bato.to/series/23413

There are various sequels that explore a particular pairing or pairings. My favorite is this one: “Love, Storms, and Flower Clocks: Alice in the Country of Hearts ~Wonderful Twin World~.”

I suggest you read the main manga series that I linked above then try out the other manga. If you liked Julius, the Clockmaker, then you can read “Love, Storms, and Flower Clocks.” It’s pure fluff with very little plot.

Here’s a trailer for the game that the manga is set in.

https://youtu.be/K8UuODmTb40
I just noticed that Alice is either frowning or pensive in the other pair images… except for the one with Julius.

Summary: It’s happy ever after for Julius and Alice who are now lovers. But life with the morose, antisocial workaholic Clockmaker is not without its problems. Now a “crazy storm” that is said to change everyone it touches is about to arrive. What further adventures are in store for Alice Liddell in this strange Wonderland?

Why Are You Doing This, Duke?

Only 4 English language chapters have been released but I’m already hooked on the Korean webcomic “Why Are You Doing This, Duke?”

Summary: An unloved orphan girl gets into big trouble when her family abandons her to be captured by enemies. The duke, known as “The Grim Reaper,” has her in his clutches but, suddenly, a strange spell activate. Now the duke is madly in love with her! … Or is he? It would be great if it was true love, but this is all thanks to a mysterious magic spell. And the magic spell’s power’s been weakening to boot–! This is the story of a marriage with a bipolar(?) husband where the main character’s life is at stake.

My thoughts: The art is pretty nice and I love how the female MC has such big, fluffy hair. 🙂 The duke is pretty handsome, plus he has that “I’m a dangerous (possibly yandere) lover” vibe that I really like.

The story has been moving along very nicely. I’m frankly on tenterhooks waiting for the each chapter to see what will happen next!

The English scanlation is by Haruparty. You can read the chapters on their website:

You can also read it on Mangadex:

Suddenly Became a Princess One Day

I posted earlier about reading trashy webcomics like Daughter of the Emperor and some people reccommended a similar webcomic: Suddenly Became a Princess One Day aka Who Made Me a Princess.

What? There’s another webcomic with almost the exact same premise? Is there a genre of comics/novels like this??? This is crazy!

Summary: When she was just a baby Athanasia already had the mind of an adult since she mysteriously remembered her past life in Korea. She realized that she had been reborn into the world of the novel “The Lovely Princess.” The problem? The princess Athanasia character in the novel was killed by her own father! Will she go with Plan A, live as quietly as possible without being noticed by the infamous emperor? Or Plan B, collect enough money to escape the palace? Or will she be stuck with plan C, sweet-talking her way into her father’s good graces?!

Links:

The webcomic has awesome art! I love the clothes! One thing I noticed is that the artists likes to draw abs… and I like to look at them. 😀

I thought that the story would be slice of life like in Daughter of the Emperor but it’s not. There’s actually a plot and a decent amount of action. The pace of the story is also pretty good.

I like it a lot! Have you read it? What do you think of this webcomic?

Special note: It’s best to pay for the official version if you can but there is also an unofficial version at Batoto and a fan has translated the entire season one, hosted on google drive.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. “Suddenly Became a Princess One Day” and “Daughter of the Emperor” are very similar to each other but I prefer “Daughter of the Emperor” because the father there is super yummylicious. To me, when it comes to shoujo, the male lead is 10,000x more important than the female main character.

I like the daughter in “Suddenly Became a Princess One Day” more and I feel like the plot is better but… sorry, Caitel from “Daughter of the Emperor” gives me that funny feeling in my chest. Yeah, okay, I’m asthmatic so I get that a lot, but you know what I mean, right?

Having said that, I must say that I like how Claude, the father in “Suddenly Became a Princess One Day” likes to walk around with his abs showing all the time. Talk about fanservice!

~ I wanna talk about some spoilers I read, too, but I feel like this isn’t the place. Maybe later when season 2 is finished?

Thanks again for reading all of this. 🙂

Have you been reading “Solo Leveling,” too?

If you read manga or manhwa (Korean graphic novels or webcomics), then you might have already read “Solo Leveling.”

The art is pretty awesome and the scanlators rapidly release the new chapters which has resulted in Solo Leveling becoming extremely popular in a short period of time. Each chapter easily gets over 100k views on Mangadex, making it one of the most popular ongoing manhwas around.

You can read it here – https://mangadex.org/title/31477/solo-leveling

The story is very simple: In a world where mysterious dungeons have appeared, many people have awakened special powers. The dungeons have to be cleared for them to disappear. Otherwise, if they remain open then monsters will spill out, killing everyone and destroying everything in their path. The main character has powers but they are very weak… until he suddenly unlocked a level-up system.

I think the title of the webcomic shouldn’t be “Solo Leveling” since people get confused, thinking that it means he’s like a lone wolf who goes to dungeons solo. The title should actually be “Only I Can Level Up” meaning “everyone else is stuck at the same level but I can level up.”

Anyway, it’s pretty good and I’m enjoying it.

Funny Otome Manga

I bet you’ve never heard of this manga before! I recently discovered it and found it quite fun so I thought of sharing it here.

I am the daughter with a villainous role, so I tried keeping the Last Boss as a pet

Summary:

The usual stuff – after realizing that she’s the villainous rival character in an otome game that she played in her last life, the main character realizes that she’s on her way to a bad end.

Wanting avoid the bad endings, she decided to conquer the final BOSS of the game… by keeping him as a pet.

I like the characters and plot of this manga so far. The art is good, too. The male lead (the last BOSS) is pretty funny as well as his “minions.” I hope there’s a punishment for the fiancé who cast the main character aside.

All in all, I really look forward to reading more of it.

The struggles of a web novel writing trying to become more popular

…but can’t add any “below the neck scenes” is real. If one reads a lot of web novels from China, they will inevitably wonder why so many stories have no H content. Love scenes always end after they kiss because of strict censorship laws.

Some writers do risk it and write more detailed stuff but the H content in web novels websites is prone to getting locked. They say that all it needs is for one person to complain.

I know of several authors whose stories got locked and never got unlocked.

So what can a poor author do? Most just play it safe and stick to the rules.

Release Schedule

There isn’t a regular release schedule currently. I normally release one chapter per week or 4 chapters per month. It’s normally every Friday or Saturday but sometimes it gets delayed.

Sorry for the irregular updates. This February I did release 4 chapters, including this one, so I did meet my goal. It’s just that I didn’t release them on a regular schedule.

I know people prefer to know the exact day when chapters will be released. I’ll do my best to release a chapter every Friday.

The other BC Novels projects have more people working on them. Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me is mostly just me and my checker which is why the release isn’t super fast. However, I do think the release rate is pretty decent.

Please be patient, everyone!
