By the way, have you ever read Wo Jia Dashi Xiong Naozi You Keng? The story is almost exactly like “Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me” sometimes. Check this out!
It’s uncanny! Similarities:
the main character is the Da Shixiong
the protagonist is his Shidi
first panel – meditating sitting on stone on top of a cliff, just like Chu Yu
MC is a trans-dimensional traveler
MC’s background is the same as Chu Yu: both parents alive, comes from a good family, good talent, etc.
.. and finally, MC’s strategy is hugging the thigh of the protagonist!
I will remove that password soon so make sure you save it somewhere.
Please check if you can access the Tumblr blog right now. There’s only one short post on it but if you can read it, that means everything is working fine and you should also be able to read the extras.
Let me know if there are any problems. Thanks.
If you aren’t able to access the tumblr blog, don’t worry, I will post the chapters without a password later.
I posted a double release today because I have something important to do tomorrow. There might be a short delay of a few days before I post the next chapter.
Kubera Webtoon
I have been reading the Kubera webtoon by Currygom. The official English version is available for free.
When I first read Season 1 I was blown away by the deep, immersive story and epic plot. The cast is huge and the setting is very interesting. Even the minor characters are cool! Season Two was also great but I started getting kinda impatient.
Have you read Noblesse? It’s kinda like that for me. Both webtoons are great but now they are really running pretty long…
IMO, no matter how good a story is, it should have a clear beginning, middle, and end. I’m not a fan of endless comics like Western ones (Batman, Spiderman, etc).
What worries me is that Kubera is already in its third season and it looks like it might go on for a very long time. I mean, is this going to go on for 5 more years? Gaaaah!
Well, my worries aside, Kubera is a great webcomic. I love the main character, Leez, and Yuta. Have you read it? Let me know what you think. 🙂
It seems that embedding the artwork is not allowed so I have placed only a small preview of the image from the artist’s page. You can view the big version here. The same artist also has a lot more fanart here.
Chibis are so cute! I wish there was more of chibi Du Ze with chibi Xiu and their chibi pets. 😀
In other news, I came across this animation which is supposedly “The Founder of Diabolism” but when will it be out?
I’m not sure if I want to watch it since I suspect it won’t even be BL at all because of China’s censorship. I’m guessing 🦀 Mr. Crab will be all over it. One can hope, though!
This image is of the main character of March Comes in Like a Lion (3月のライオン) aka Sangatsu no Lion
I’ve actually read the manga. Weird title but it’s really a simple, heartwarming story about a shoji player, Rei. I think there’s an anime but I haven’t watched it. I think the shoji matches in anime would be a bit much. Based on the anime they take a very long time.
Of course, it’s difficult for me to understand the shoji stuff but most of it is actually about relationships.
I’d say the manga is pretty good but a little bit boring. I also feel like the romance is weird since the girl is still in middle school. It’s worth a read if you are interested in shoji, go, and similar games.
You can that the stairs in the picture have Chinese characters and their English translations on it. What does the “add oil” in there mean? Reddit users speculated that it might mean “elbow grease” or “pour it on” or even “pump up the jam.”
A Chinese-speaking user explained it this way:
“Add oil” is a literal translation of a Chinese expression (you can see the Chinese written next to it). It means “keep going” or “hang in there”. (source)
And another explanation:
加油!Literally means add oil, but it really means for someone to gas up, or refill their energy. In other words, keep going! (source)
It seems to be a common phrase at sports events, according to this:
oh I always thought it was a figure of speech (to add oil to the fire). At world weightlifting championship i’d always hear the chinese team chant for their athletes with “(insert name here) jiayou!” (source)
Other users also weighed in about similar expression in their language:
In Swedish we have a similar saying which is literally translated to something like “put on another coal.” but it’s slightly different in that it means “go faster”. I assume it comes from when trains ran on coal. (source)

I’m so excited that we are so close to the end!
Mixed Blood
The title of the novel is 混血. This can actually be translated in many different ways.
Hunxue (pinyin version)
Hybrid (the dictionary meaning)
Half-breed (also a dictionary meaning)
Mudblood (Harry Potter version; 混 means dirty, muddy, mixed while 血 means blood; in addition there is prejudice against such people in the novel’s world so this is actually pretty appropriate)
Mixed Blood – I just chose this since it sounded the most accurate
Normally chapters are 3000-5000 characters. This chapter is 8,000 characters long. The next chapter after this one is 11,000 words long.
Phew! I’ll have to work hard!
By the way, I forgot if I already mentioned this or not but the manhua adaptation has started updating again. It’s in Chinese but if you read the novel here then you can pretty figure out what is going on.
I said I was going to blog but I didn’t post anything until today. 🙂 Since I know the readers of BC Novels are interested in the BL genre, here are some of my recommendations.
Let Me Tease You – this is by the author of Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me so if you like that story, check this one out. It’s already complete
Ongoing Web Novels
Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil – absolutely a must-read. This story is real gem and very epic. 167 chapters have already been released so there’s plenty to binge-read. The MC traveled from one world to another, bound to a System that forced him to play cannon fodder villains. He died hundreds of times that way but don’t worry, that is just background info. The story begins when he broke free of the System and started to wreak havoc on all the worlds to get his revenge on the creator of the System. I love the MC and ML’s relationship.
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System – I wish this had more chapters! It’s about a man who got transmigrated into the world of a Xianxia novel. He’s adorable, lol! The translation is ongoing but I have read the entire novel so I can recommend it. Great ending.
I’ve Led the Villain Astray, How Do I Fix It? – funny premise. The MC was transmigrated into the world of a Xianxia novel. He is a bro-con spoils his little brother who he wants to grow up into a strong and good person.
Counterattack of a White Lotus that was Reborn into an Apocalypse – the MC is a macho muscle-bound gym/fitness instructor who died when a really heavy book fell on his head. To his horror, he transmigrated into the world of that “killer book” and his role is that of the fake “white lotus” character. From a manly man, he turned into a tender, weak, and cute little white boy. This MC is absolutely hilarious. Reading this novel always makes me smile.
Transmigrating into a Mob Character to Rehabilitate the Villain Plan – hmm, I kinda rec this but with caution. I loved the first two volumes when the ML was a little boy but when he grew up in volumes 3-4 it kinda became too tragic in some parts though it does eventually have a happy ending. I dunno, there’s a lot of drama for me since I prefer the fluffy stories but I did enjoy volume 1 a lot.

Weird website stuff
Hmm, for some reason the Noveulupdates.com bot didn’t pick up my latest release? Is there something wrong with my website or is their bot not working?
No idea what happened. It’s been two hours but my release hasn’t been posted on NU yet so I am posting it again. Hopefully the bot will be able to post this on the NU front page.
Edit: Wait, I think I understand what happened. The bot thought the previous post was a “news” one not a chapter release. This one should be picked up properly.
Edit2: Okay, this one is also not updating on NU. Sigh…
Edit3: It seems that it was probably manually fixed.
Anyway, since I posted twice, I’ll be shameless and plug my other project. Have you read my manga scanlation? Chapter one is here.
Bokura no Meikyu (Our Labyrinth) ぼくらのめいきゅ- A class of ordinary high school students suddenly find that their school has turned into a dungeon. It’s a web comic comedy series.
