During their first meeting, Old John was described as old and decrepit:

“It was an old mechanical puppet. They could hear its parts clanging at its every step. Though its appearance was worse than the one star mechanical puppets they had seen before, this one had five stars on its chest.”

However, after Xiu learned forging, he upgraded Old John and when Du Ze emerged from the wheel of time, he looked human:

“The Fire Phoenix tweeted then flew up and perched on the shoulder of someone who had appeared without Du Ze noticing him. It was a stranger with brown hair who looked very approachable.”

This time Xiu made a human-type mechanical puppet body for Old John. When Xiu finishes fixing Old John he will be a seven-star mechanical puppet, the highest that Xiu can make. We can tell from this that Xiu does value Old John a lot.

Since there is currently no description, we can imagine for ourselves what he looks like. I think Old John is like a bodyguard/butler so that image above is what I think he looks like now.

People are still confused? If you don’t like the password then don’t use it

Yesterday someone complained that it was confusing with all the different websites and passwords.

First of all, that is not true. There has only ever been ONE password active at any given time. I also already removed the password. There are ZERO passwords needed 99.999% of the time.

Secondly, you don’t need to go to different websites. Everything you need is on BCNovels.com.

Thirdly, all of the special chapters are linked here on this thread. I don’t think that’s confusing.

I offer the “special” chapters as an extra. You do not need them to read the story since all of the SFW chapters are here on this website.

Kindly note that the “special” chapters are not available even in the raws. Take a look at this. Note all of those “This section is locked” stuff? Yeah, that’s because those chapters are not available for reading in the webnovel.

*rolls eyes* In fact, my editor was amazed that I had that last  extra chapter since, I repeat, that is not available in the webnovel. It’s only available in the print books.

In short, if you were in China you would have to order the books to even get that stuff. That’s why I don’t like it when people copy-paste it on their plagiarized websites.

If people don’t like the “bother” of the special chapters, I can just remove them altogether. That is how it is in the raws – everything there is censored, you know.

Then no one will be confused.

What do you think the mechanical puppets look like?

According to the story, there are many different mechanical puppets. The ordinary ones that were wandering in the Death Swamp didn’t seem to smart. However, Old John is intelligent and, after Xiu fixed him up the first time, he looks exactly like a human.

The seven star mechanical puppet that Xiu was building was described by Du Ze as a walking arsenal/fortress. I think it’s probably a bit bulky and definitely huge.

As for the guardians that are under the various Sephiroths, they are named after angels so in my mind they look like big mechanical angels. White and gold, with wings. The eight star mechanical puppet that is the ultimate mechanical puppet… no idea what it looks like. I hope we get a good description of it.

This image kinda looks like Xiu, doesn’t it? Or since it looks pretty young and a bit innocent, it could be Eric! It has that blond warrior prince thing going for it.

Human form Xiu has been described as “a blond youth with a genial smile on his face” and Heidi thought he was very good-looking but I think the elf form is probably the most beautiful one. However, we still haven’t seen Xiu’s angel form so it’s too early to discuss this.

Thanks for all the comments. I myself had no problems with Ainushi but it seems many of you had difficulties leaving comments there. They probably have more stringent comment spam controls than I do.

BC Novels doesn’t have tons of projects so my readership is smaller. Therefore, I can afford to somewhat relax the comments system a bit. That’s why there’s no need for logins here. 😉

But the big sites can be hammered with a lot of bots and spam, thus they need to have stuff like the “are you human” tests and so forth. Blame the spammers for ruining everything!

Pulling someone’s tail can be dangerous

I don’t know why, but people in novels, manga, and anime always like to pull tails or grab ears whenever they see a beastkin or shapeshifter.

I mean, even though they clearly know that it’s a person and not an animal, they still like to do it! That doesn’t make sense. Would you like it if someone randomly started grabbing your ears and behind?!

But it might be explained by the “fact” that the beastkin ears and tail are just toooooo cute!

It’s super gorgeous and (IMO) it really does look like Xiu’s beastkin humanoid form’s tattoos. It would be perfect if it had the ears and tail, too.
