Things are really heating up.

Last chapter I said the “fighting fairies” cover was of two women but I was probably wrong.

The “fairies fighting” bit is from chapter 73 of The Red Chamber Dream (one of the four great classical novels of China) when a girl picked up a sachet that had an image of a nude pair embracing. She thought it was an image of “fairies fighting.”

I assumed it was of two women but apparently it was a man and a woman. I apologize for the mistake.

Embroidered sachets

Last time, Chu Yu mentioned that women were trying to give him embroidered sachets. I think these were Qingyang sachets, also known as “chu chu” hahahahaha!

These are basically handmade cloth sachets that are normally filled with perfume items or traditional Chinese medicine ingredients. Stuff like herbs, cinnabar, realgar and other strongly aromatic TCM ingredients are commonly used.

The Prince Will Never Give Up on Me!

I love this cute manga “Ouji ga Watashi o Akiramenai!” (The Prince Will Never Give Up on Me!). It’s pure comedy and I laugh every time I read it because of its sheer ridiculousness.

Summary: A super high-spec “prince” with great talent, extraordinary intelligence, enormous wealth, gorgeous good looks, etc. falls in love with a commoner.

It’s very over-the-top. Edit: Link is dead for some reason so just google the title “Ouji ga Watashi o Akiramenai” or read it at your favorite manga website.

What exactly was Xie Xi thinking of doing when he grows up?

Last chapter was hilarious. Spoiler for last chapter:

Rofl, I nearly died laughing when they ran away after they discovered the incense by the demonic cultivators. I was not expecting that. I thought they would try to find the demonic cultivator and rescue the villagers but they immediately flew off to report it to the sect.

I mean, it was the smart thing to do, but how many of main characters of the usual Xianxia CN novels would do that? I have never read of any!

That was very strange, I mean so the whole auction thing was useless since they won’t be finishing the water demon extermination mission? They handed over the mission to the sect master because the demonic cultivators were involved. I guess we will see what will happen in the future chapters.

Lately I have been browsing pixiv. There soooo many great illustrations and they are mostly by amateurs.

Of course, professional artists also showcase their work there but I am amazed that so many people can draw so well. Very nice!

Japanese terms in Chinese novels

The Japanese terms that I use in the translation are there in the raw.

For example:

• lolita
• shota
• brocon
• otaku
• Moe

Those terms are widely used by Chinese people. In particular, “Moe” is “Meng” in Chinese novels. I prefer to use either “Moe” or “cute” instead of “Meng.”
