The 72 Demon Cities

Now, here is a little bit of info about the setting. The 72 cities in the reverse side of the continent are each dedicated to a powerful demon god that is worship but the cities’ inhabitants. When Ye Zhi Qiu wrote “Mixed Blood”,  he was lazy. He just directly copied the 72 demons from the legend of the demons that King Solomon summoned and controlled.

There actually is a book that lists all 72 of them, including their names, appearance, and attributes. The Ars Goetia describes them.

So you all read the previous chapter? Yeah, I was surprised, too. When I first read that I realized that there is a reason why Du Ze almost never speaks. The poor guy has a complex about his “weird” voice. Deaf people can’t hear themselves clearly so their speech can sound strange. However, Du Ze uses his hearing aid now. His speech is probably fine but his social barrier is really high.

What did Xiu actually say?

Well, the title of that chapter is “Do not leave my line of sight.” I am pretty sure that is what Xiu said. It’s just that earlier, Xiu had tested Du Ze but our favorite heroic youth thought it was Xiu softening. Also, I really think that Du Ze is a shotacon who is weak when it comes to small, cute things.

Du Ze thought that Xiu was like a little kid pleading for mommy not to leave. But Xiu is more of a possessive master who doesn’t like it when his toy/lunch leaves.

Du Ze is weak when it comes to cute things

The silly Du Ze is weak when it come to cute little things. All Xiu has to do is look up at him with those big, amber eyes and Du Ze just caves in.

His face is impassive but inside he’s like “OMG! Cute!”

Yesterday I asked about the names of the races but it seems like most people are fine with the ones that I am using. Therefore, I decided not to change anything. Thank you for the feedback.

By the way, I am having second thoughts about the race names and their proper English translation. The author wrote the race names in English on his blog: Human, Orc, Angel, Demon, Elf, Dragonkin, Elyos and Asmodian. I changed Orc to Beastkin; Elyos to Angel; and Asmodian to Demon. Do you think I should use the author’s preferred English names?

I did initially use Orc but people preferred Beastkin. As for Elyos and Asmodian, most people have not played Aion so they wouldn’t know what those two race names mean. I think those names are actually copyrighted…

I love Du Ze (and Xiu, too)

You know what I think is the best thing about Reader and Protagonist? The main character is super funny. He works hard but keeps his sense of humor about everything.  He is very determined and smart even though he has no fighting skills. I love Du Ze a lot! I want to pick him up and cuddle him.

New project launched!

It’s here, the new project that I have been working on. The titles sound similar because they both have “protagonist” in them but it is not related to “The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love.” However, the plot is somewhat similar since they both feature the plot element “OMG I was transported into the world of a web novel, eek!”

Every Day the Protagonist Wants to Capture Me announcement post. I plan to have weekly updates for that story while Reader and Protagonist will continue to have daily updates.

About the human race in the novel, remember that they gave away “tolerance” in return for the gift of “learning.” Xiu is an orphan. At birth he looked human and he grew up in an orphanage with other humans. The problem is that Xiu is actually a “mixed blood” person which is highly frowned upon in human society.

Since humans in this setting are intolerant, that explains why practically every human in the continent was trying to kill Xiu. Now that Xiu has unlocked three forms (human, undead, and gnome), readers who forgot the characteristics of each race might want to go back to chapter one and reread. The racial shortcomings and unique skills will definitely play a part in the story.

In other news, I have decided to limit my use of footnotes. I’ve been using them a lot and I think I got addicted so I am cutting back. There will still be footnotes, just fewer than I have been using lately. I’m worried that they kinda make the reading experience a bit annoying. However, some people have told me that they like the footnotes. Therefore, I won’t be completely stopping my footnote spree completely.

Chapter 13 The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love (only one part, complete). The title of this chapter really made me excited when I read it the first time. Actually, even the second and third time was still exciting! It’s super good. This chapter and the next one are some of my favorites.

When I started reading, I fell in love with the MC because he is so relatable and funny. To me, the ML’s skeleton/ Lich undead form is very interesting. This is a first for BL romance, right? I’ve never read of a skeleton as one of the romantic leads in BL, lol. Then I read the “gnome form awakens” arc and it was just awesome! I hope everyone will love it as much as I did.

Remember, this quote from the first chapter?

“The Gnomes gave away their tranquility, received forging.”

From this, we already know that gnomes are experts at forging (crafting). Each race gave away something to receive their racial gifts. In the gnomes’ case, they gave away “tranquility” which means that they are …. angry? crazy? We’ll see. Let’s keep on reading!

Important news: Announcing a new project!  Every day the protagonist wants to capture me. I’ve started working on it and the first chapter is almost done. I will publish it in a few days. Um, the titles are similar but this one is a different, unrelated story. It will be updated every week while I will continue to update The Reader and Protagonist daily.

Fate/Stay Night Crossover

This was an extra in the manhua. Sadly, you won’t laugh unless you know Fate/Stay Night. Anyway, to explain: When Saber was summoned, she rose up from a magic circle, and said “I ask of you: Are you my master?” Saber was a magical Servant and the summoner became her master.

But in this manhua comic Du Ze said “I asked of you: Are you my Meng master?” The joke is that “Meng master” isn’t really a master, it’s just an idiom that means “really, super Meng.” Meng, of course, means “Moe” or cute/ adorable.
