It’s only been 12 hours since I posted the last update but that chapter ended on a rather worrying note so I rushed out this chapter. Click here for Chapter 9.1.

As I mentioned before, chapter 8 is the most shocking chapter. There won’t be that type of thing again. I promise!

This chapter is pretty good, IMO. Du Ze shows us what he can do! Which isn’t that much but if you kick a pebble down a mountainside, there’s a change it could trigger an avalanche. In future chapters we will see whether or not Du Ze can help the protagonist.

Very shocking event

I posted this great art for everyone to enjoy. Xiu in this chapter is blackened (evil) but still extremely good-looking. Even the skeletal hand isn’t a turn-off.

This is the most shocking chapter in the entire story, IMO. Other people probably won’t agree with me but I was like – *mouth falls open, then starts gasping like a fish* – “did that really just happen?” You probably haven’t read the chapter yet so you don’t know what I’m talking about, right?

*sigh* Even now I still think , “why!!!” You can take a look at the second picture of chapter 8.2 to know what I’m talking about. Don’t worry though, everything will be alright. Just wait for chapter 9!

Du Ze

Here is the character description for Du Ze from Baidu:

The main character of the book. He has a high degree of myopia and severe hearing loss without his glasses and hearing aid. Due to his disability he developed a social disorder (a high social barrier) which lead to him becoming an otaku. Originally an ordinary computer science student, he is very handsome. Outwardly he has the appearance of the social elite, but he is really a stupid Meng (an adorably cute, stupid creature such as a small, furry animal).

A black powder fan, his troll review led to the tragic fate and blackening of the hero of the “Mixed Blood” novel. Later, he was transported into the world of “Mixed Blood” by an unknown power. Using his knowledge of the “Mixed Blood” novel’s events, he got to know Xiu, the protagonist of the novel and started an adventure with him.

Types of the Undead

I translated the types of the undead as:

• skeletal
• spectral
• dead bodies/reanimated bodies

But they can also be called:

• skeletons
• ghosts/phantoms
• zombies

The first two are mostly the same. It’s the third term that’s giving me a headache. Xiu is specifically a Lich, meaning the most powerful type of undead. That’s no problem. What I don’t like is using the term “zombie.” I mean, this isn’t a horror movie and the word zombie just makes me think of a lot of zombie movies or weird things like Plants vs Zombies. As far as I know, the Z word is mostly avoided by writers, and for good reason.

The original Chinese raw used 死尸 which means “dead body” or “corpse.”

But the poem at the end used 僵尸 Jiang Shi which is very specific type of Chinese folklore monster. That’s very troubling to me, lol. I’m confused as to whether I should just use reanimated dead, zombie, or Jiang Shi.

Thankfully, the author also wrote “undead” in English. That is what I prefer to use as a general term.

Alright, lemme answer some questions that people have asked:

Q: Why does a skeleton have a tongue?

A: Dear friend, did you forget that our cute/evil Xiu is a harem master? Ye Zhi Qiu wrote his character to be the type who has a ton of women. In Qiu’s novel there are quite a few XXX scenes, you know?! The author has to write a heart-pounding kiss scene sometimes and for that Xiu needs a tongue, therefore the author wrote him that way.

Q: Can a skeleton do “it”? How?

A: Please read chapter 7 for more details. No, they don’t do it but you will find out some interesting things.

Q: What is your update schedule?

A: Whenever a chapter is ready, I post it.

Q: Who would have thought that kissing a skeleton would be this hot?

A: Not me, in fact before I read this story I used to laugh at the people who thought the MC of Overlord was sexy. But now I have discovered the charm of skeletons…

Q: Poor DZ, but no, from his mind, it feels like he became an M for the Protagonist.

A: *cough*

Chapter 6.2 is done!

And my favorite chapter is now completely translated. Don’t worry, later on there will be even more intense chapters. There will be those that make you laugh, cry, and cough up blood (not literally). If you’re easily excited, you might even squeal with joy.

Du Ze didn’t even introduce himself and just went straight up to Xiu and kissed him, hahaha.

Nice image, right? I like it. You can see the tip of Du Ze’s tongue trying to get inside Xiu’s mouth. Very nice.

I want everyone to know that this chapter is when I fell in love with this novel. It’s just so amazing! I hope that when you read it, you will also fall in love with these two crazy people – the kooky Du Ze and the aggressive Xiu.

Also, people have been asking about my update schedule. The truth is, I don’t have a real schedule because I just post whenever I’m finished. I’m pretty fast with the updates and I hope to post daily. However, that’s not set in stone. I also don’t have a pile of chapters just waiting to be posted.

For example, right now I just posted chapter 6.1 and 6.2 is on it’s way (in around 10-12 hours). I have not even started on chapter 7 but today I have a lot of free time so it shouldn’t be a problem.

I got an editor! Thanks to XD (from NU forums) who is now helping with this project.

Some people asked me whether there actually is a “Mixed Blood” novel. Sorry, but no. There is only the “Mixed Blood” novel inside of The Reader and Protagonist story and, as far as I know, there isn’t one outside of it.
